- The size of every attachment shouldn't be more than 4 MB. Although other formats are allowed, we recommend the PDF format because of the following reasons.
- Typically, the documents we get from work or financial institutions are PDF formats.
- Educational degrees and transcripts have to be scanned and thereby merged.
- For every required attachment (for example, every position for proof of work), you typically need to merge multiple documents. For example, if your company letter doesn't specify salary, you can merge your salary slip/tax form along with the company letter in 1 PDF to comply with the requirements. There are several tools available to edit/merge PDFs. You can also compress the attachments so that it is under 4 MB.
- Add a table of contents (with page numbers) per attachment, if you are merging multiple documents in one PDF. It would make it easier for the reviewer to understand what you have merged.
- One of the frequently asked questions is if all the documents should be in color. Per the CIC site, only the police clearance certificates are supposed to be scanned in color. Other documents are not required to be in color. Although if you have it in color, provide it. Some countries do not provide PCC in color (like FBI in USA). Please mention that in the letter of explanation that this is how you received it.
- Passport scans are requested. If your passport has expired in the last 10 years (i.e. you had passport 1 from say 2004 - 2014 and passport 2 from 2014 onwards), please provide the scan of the expired passport as well. The online express entry application accepts just one passport number but in the attachment make sure that you provide both (old and new). Mention the same in the letter of explanation. If the CIC officials want to run a security check then they would need your old passport number as well.
- Marriage certificates - If you are married, you need to provide a marriage certificate from the place you got married. If you do not have it then you can procure it by reaching out to the marriage registrar. If you are residing outside the country (i.e. where your marriage took place), then the embassy of your country would typically provide it based on your passport and other supporting documents. If you only submit passport scans in your express entry application where your spouse's name is listed or dated marriage photographs, it will not work. Passport and photographs are only supporting materials and not the required document.
- Appendix is a good section to add if you are putting some miscellaneous documents. For instance, if you worked for a company that was acquired then you need to attach the announcement letter. Now since the announcement letter is that of the company and not exactly your document you can put it in the appendix.

Rather than making one single LOE, I plan to make a cover letter for each document which requires some explanation or have multiple docs merged as single ffile. Is it OK.
ReplyDeleteAlso, do we need to give marksheets also, along with degrees?
There are no official guidelines on this one. It depends on how much you want to write. My recommendation to you would be if you want to write LOE per attachment, go for it but make sure that you have a table of contents so that the officer can differentiate your document (like say employer letter) and loe. For your 2nd query, you have to submit either marksheets or transcripts for bachelors/masters. (Ofcourse not of high school etc.)

Dear I have prevoius experience letter which doesn't show my salary only mentioned my name and designation date of joining and ending .should I use it for past experience letter or only in personal history because I don't have any source to get it again or any reference letter from any college the reason since I left my country I was not in contact with any one. Till now I more than 5 years experience of my current job. Please advise me .
ReplyDeleteIf you are using your previous job experience for points then you would need to support with additional documents such as joining letter, salary slips, recommendation from an old colleague. But if you are not using it for points then do mention it in your personal history because IRCC would want to know what you did at that time. Hope this helps.
