Top 15 Canadian immigration channels

Our Canada Dock YouTube channel has been selected as the top 15 immigration channels on the web by Feedspot. Check out the link below. This definitely came out of the blue for us!

The site is definitely gold for mostly everyone who plans to immigrate to Canada, especially express entry aspirants. When you plan to immigrate every dollar counts. Although Canadian immigration process is relatively easier than other countries, you still face the challenges below -
1. IRCC is not accessible to people outside Canada.  So if you want clarification you have to rely on other sources.
2. Lawyers and immigration consultants are expensive.  Not everyone can afford them. Some of them might just swindle you. For example, we see a lot of consultants who "offer" free ielts certificates without you giving exams. Such people are fraud and you should be weary on who you choose if you want help from a lawyer/immigration consultant. Even if you choose a consultant/lawyer, our suggestion would be to verify the steps/documents with IRCC website and these blog sites.

What is good about the selection of these 15 sites?

  1. Great mix of professional legal experience and personal experience.
  2. Some channels like Our Canada Dock are geared towards personal experience with express entry, moving and final post-landing experiences.
  3. Others are geared for students who are moving to Canada for studies.
  4. Some of them are channels owned by law firms and immigration consultants.
  5. You get to connect with people who have undergone a similar experience.

What you can gain from these sites?

  1. If you are filing the application by yourself, then these sites could advise you on some edge cases i.e. small queries that you may have. This is because mostly everyone doesn't have the perfect documents for experience or education etc. You could get suggestions on the same.
  2. You will be surprised to know that many people also face similar problems (whether it is likes or comments on blogs or youtube channel) and will give you confidence on your application.
  3. The thing with express entry application is that it is completely online. While this is great, the downside is that if anything is missing from your application depending on the severity IRCC could ask more information from you or even reject your application. That means more delay and stress (You will have to resubmit your application if rejected with new information/documents as needed). A little bit of digging into these channels can go a long way.
Overall, great work by the Feedspot team to compile these for immigration to Canada. Thank you for recognizing our YouTube channel. Good luck to all the aspirants for Canadian immigration!

Express entry timeline

We are sharing our timeline from the initiation to getting PR. A lot of folks have this question and often differs with every case.

  1. October 2017 - WES evaluation completed.
  2. Feb 10th 2018 - Appeared for the IELTS exam
  3. Feb 24th 2018 - Received the IELTS exam results.
  4. Feb 28th 2018 - Submitted the express entry profile.
  5. Mar 14th 2018 - Got the invite to apply (ITA)
  6. Apr 15th 2018 - Submitted the documents and got the receipt (AOR i.e. acknowledgement of receipt)
  7. Apr 20th 2018 - Medical cleared (MEP i.e. Medical exam passed)
  8. May 8th, 2018 - Golden Email received from CIC requesting for passports
  9. May 10th, 2018 - Sent passports to Canada
  10. May 23rd, 2018 - Received COPR i.e. Confirmation of Permanent Residence and passports
  11. June 10th, 2018 - Arrived in Canada!
People track the intermediate stages between medical and golden email. However, it varies by case. Some people get the PR email directly whereas some might get notifications along the way. So, please do not compare notes with people who might have applied with you. The SLA for express entry is 6 months and so if you don't see movement in a month or so, you can send them GCMS notes to request a status. (You would get the link in the AoR email).

Just login to your CIC account and email regularly to be able to respond to messages or notifications from CIC if any. Have patience and it will all work out!

Our Canada Dock!!!

Welcome to our blog! My husband and I immigrated to Canada a little over a month ago, and since I did plenty of research for this immigration I thought of writing a blog so that it could be useful for someone considering Express Entry to Canada. Further, as we settle down here I will continue writing relevant things that may be useful for future immigrants. We are not immigration consultants or job providers  and so would encourage you to research further if you are not satisfied with our blog. My husband mostly free rode with me to Canada :-P, but once in a while he may be writing here as well ;-).

Thank you for reading our blog. Follow our blog to be able to get updates on every new post!
