Activity (Personal Information) history in express entry

As part of express entry application, they also ask you for activity history. The visa officers look at your profile overall. The activity history along with your education and proof of work will help the officer understand your last 10 years. You would be providing proof of funds as well. So all this information will help the officer understand the legitimacy of your funds as well.

Couple of things -

  1. Do not have gaps or overlaps in your activity history. The express entry UI application will give an error (i.e. not allow you to save) if there are gaps.
  2. If you were unemployed, clearly state so.  You get points as per the number of years of skilled experience in the last 10 years. For example, if you had 6 years of experience in the last 10 years and were unemployed for 4 years, it all fits in. On the other hand, if you mention 5 years of unemployed status but 6 years of employed status in the last 10 years, it doesn't add up. However, if you have contradictions then the officer may be confused and ask for additional information, thus causing delay in your PR processing. Be very careful with the dates as well. Your proof of work letter would mention the dates of employment. Make sure that your employment and unemployment dates don't overlap.
  3. If you don't have exact dates, use your best guess. Perfectly acceptable.
  4. If you volunteer with different non-profits, do add it. It is a plus.
